About Me

When I'm not working for the Milpitas Fire Department, I'm usually training for my next race.  I love triathlons, (so far I have completed a number of  Olympic distance triathlons, .9 mile swim, 24.4 mile handcycle, 6.2 mile wheelchair) and several marathons - not bad for a quadriplegic.

In 2006, during a training ride on a mountain bike, I flipped over the handlebars and broke my neck at C6-C7.  At the hospital, my doctor told me to prepare for a life in a hospital bed.  Little did he know!  70 days of intense physical therapy later, I was home plotting my return to athletics.  Check out my Race page to see how I'm doing.

In October 2009, I participated in the Qualcomm Million Dollar Challenge to give back to the nonprofit that has given me and so many others tremendous support -   the Challenged Athletes Foundation.

Check out my QMDC blog for daily updates of the epic ride from San Francisco to San Diego last year!  You can also read about my team, recent press coverage by clicking the links above.
